HTC is scheduled to hold a big event later this week to reveal something or the other. A leak now indicates that this has something to do with a new smartphone; which also includes expanded personalisation options.
Serial leaker Evan Blass managed to get his hands on a teaser video for whatever it is that HTC is cooking up. There’s not much in the way of details, but it talks greatly about coming up with new design ideas. From what we can tell, this seems to be about coming up with more colours and textures for the back of the device.

What is more notable is the presence of a phone carrying the HTC Vive branding. Until now, the Vive has been used solely for the company’s VR efforts and has been kept separate from the mobile division.

That being said, it comes as no surprise that HTC would be looking to cross promote the name. Vive has become far stronger brand than any of its contemporary smartphone lines.
It’s difficult to say what HTC will come up with, but there is an indication that the Taiwanese company is at least trying to come up with a new direction to take.
Update: Turns out that the video was originally released back in June 2016. It could still mean that HTC is planning a Vive branded smartphone, but perhaps a bit longer than we expected. Interestingly, the video has been taken down from its original source on Vimeo. So something could be up there.
