Day two of ESL One Genting started with a rather disappointing note as both Malaysian teams, Fnatic and WG.Unity were eliminated by Team NP and Execration respectively.
After eliminating Team Fnatic, Team NP went up against Virtus.Pro in a best of three series. Virtus.Pro played strategically and managed to take the series in a cinch with a 2-0 score, granting them a spot at the semifinals.
Right after, Malaysian favourites, WG.Unity took on Filipino Dota 2 team, Execration in a best of three series. Execration played a stunning game one, easily defeating WG.Unity. However, WG.Unity fought back with an equally amazing game two, but in game three, Execration went all out to win the series 2-1.
Next up, Execration had to face TI6 champions, Wings Gaming. It wasn’t easy for Execration as Wings Gaming, being the more experienced team, took game one. Execration suffered the same fate in game two, and Wings Gaming won the series 2-0 to move on to the semifinals.
Newbee and Digital Chaos were the first to get a semifinal slot as they won their respective group’s upper brackets, and now they will be joined by Team Virtus.Pro and Wings Gaming. The playoffs will begin tomorrow with the first match between Team Digital Chaos and Wings Gaming.
