It’s day two here at ESL One Genting 2017 and the day started off with the group A lower bracket matches. This was Team Fnatic’s chance to prove themselves as their opponents were Team NP.
The group A lower bracket best of three series saw Fnatic playing a strong early game, but it wasn’t enough to outlast Team NP’s momentum. Fnatic called GG and the series went into game two. This round, Mushi picked Lifestealer with Ohaiyo on the Dark Seer, but it was still no match for Aui_2000’s Ursa and EternalEnvy’s Mirana pick. Team NP won the series with a clean 2-0 wipe, which sent Fnatic packing.
As for group B’s lower bracket match, game one went in the way of Execration as they were able to capitalise on WG.Unity’s slower pace mid-game. With Execration in the lead, Wings Gaming managed to outplay and outlast Execration’s lineup, tying the series at 1-1. Game three seemed one sided as Execration got a great start but WG.Unity didn’t go down without a fight. Eventually, WG.Unity’s Alchemist wasn’t able to withstand the damage output coming from Execration’s Meepo, and the final score was 2-1 with the Filipino team advancing to the next stage.
It’s a pity that Fnatic’s lineup was lacking synergy and practice, while WG.Unity cracked under pressure. Coming up next will be Team Virtus.Pro going up against Team NP, with Wings Gaming taking on Execration right after.
