Prices for MSI’s new lineup of laptops for 2017 have been revealed in a showcase at ESL One Genting. These are the gaming machines equipped with Intel’s seventh generation Kaby Lake processors, and were only recently announced at CES in Las Vegas.
Four models are currently on display, and we have confirmation that these four are already on sale in Malaysia. They aren’t exactly affordable by any stretch of the imagination, but are priced in the region of what one usually expects from MSI. We’ve listed the prices here for easy reference.
- PE60 RM 5,399
- GT62VR RM 10,499
- GS63VR RM 9,399
- GT73VR 4K RM 17,999
The PE60 is, as the name suggests, the lowest end model. It packs an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB. Not exactly the best hardware, but still reasonable for entry level portable gaming. On the other hand, the GS63VR packs the same processor bump the RAM up to 16GB and the GPU to a GTX 1060 6GB for almost twice the price.
MSI’s GT62VR is practically the same device as the GS63VR, sharing the same memory, storage, and processor. However, replaces the GTX 1060 with a far more impressive GTX 1070 8GB graphics card. All for only a RM1,100 increase in price.
The GT72VR 4K, on the other hand, justifies its price tag with a 17.3-inch 4K display, and that’s on the start of it. Inside is an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor paired with 32GB DDR4 RAM. Powering the graphics is a GTX 1080 8GB, which is more than enough to run games at 4K; albeit likely at 30fps.
We also have a rumoured price for the newly announced GT83 with Cherry MX Speed keyboard. It should be on sale next month for RM22,999; but our sources say that the price might be a couple of thousand ringgit higher.
MSI is getting these machines into Malaysia a lot sooner than we expected, which is probably a good thing for those of us who want a new gaming rig for Chinese New Year.
