Several months ago, Xiaomi refreshed its sleek Mi TV 3S. Today at CES 2017, the Chinese company has unveiled a successor to the smart TV: the Mi TV 4. Naturally, this new TV brings with it several interesting new features, such as an almost bezel-less display and an even thinner dimension.
In comparison to its predecessor, which measures 9.9mm thin, the Mi TV 4 is only 4.9mm at its thinnest point; that’s almost half the thickness of the Mi TV 3S. Aside from that, the Mi TV 4 also has an almost bezel-less display. In retrospect, it’s akin to the Xiaomi Mi Mix‘s futuristic-looking design. To accentuate the almost bezel-less display, this smart TV also comes with a transparent stand.
Much like its predecessor, the Mi TV 4 is a modular smart TV: its motherboard is actually housed in the sound bar itself, which is dubbed Mi TV bar. Speaking of which, the Mi TV 4 also supports Dolby Atmos: it comes with 10 speakers integrated into the Mi TV bar, two wireless rear satellite speakers, as well as a subwoofer. Naturally, Xiaomi’s latest Mi TV also comes with PatchWall AI, which debuted on the Mi TV 3S.
For now, the Xiaomi Mi TV 4 will only ship in China later this year; it’ll go for “well under $2,000” – about RM8,970 – for the TV itself with the Dolby Atmos speaker setup. Without the speakers, the smart TV will go for less than $1,500 (approximately RM6,725). Interestingly, there’s also a 55-inch and 49-inch variants of the Mi TV 4, although their retail prices have not been revealed yet.
