As promised, OPPO has officially launched its brand new R9s smartphone in Malaysia just moments ago. First unveiled in China few months ago, the company has touted the capability of the phone’s rear camera as one of the main attraction of R9s as opposed to the previously released F1s where selfie camera was its main selling point.
There is a good reason why OPPO is really excited about the rear camera on its R9s: it claimed that the camera’s 16-megapixels IMX398 sensor was co-developed together with Sony exclusively for the company. Featuring dual PDAF technology and electronic image stabilization system, the sensor is paired with f/1.7 6-elements sapphire lens which helps it to deliver good performance in low light situation.
That doesn’t mean R9s front camera is not capable though as it is also equipped with a 16-megapixels sensor. In term of processing power, R9s is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 together with 4GB of RAM and is accompanied by 64GB internal storage.
Not to forget, it also comes with a 3,010mAh battery and supports the company’s own VOOC fast charging technology. The new OPPO R9s will be released into the market on 14 January with price tag of RM 1,798. However, R9s Plus is not yet available in our market for the time being.
