After embarking on open beta test with Maybank recently, Samsung has revealed that it will be extending the support for its Samsung Pay platform for more banks in Malaysia soon. This was announced at the on-going launch of Galaxy A Series 2017 smartphones.
What made Samsung Pay interesting is that it not only works for NFC-based terminals but also those that are still magnetic-based. In theory, this means majority of card payment terminals in Malaysia should be able to work with Samsung Pay…like we said, in theory.
According to Samsung Malaysia, the new cards that Samsung Pay will be able to support in Malaysia are CIMB MasterCard, Citibank MasterCard and Visa, as well as Standard Chartered MasterCard and Visa. However, no rollout time line has been officially announced by the company today.
