As is always the case with the introduction of new hardware, many PC makers have updated their offerings with Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors and Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX 1050 GPUs for laptops. One such manufacturer is MSI, and it has officially announced its updated range of gaming laptops at CES 2017.
Naturally, all of the company’s gaming laptops are now packing the recently announced high performance Kaby Lake processors. These include the mammoth GT83VR Titan SLI, the GT73VR, the slim GS series of gaming laptops, as well as the more affordable GE, GP and GL series machines.
In the GPU department, only certain MSI laptops – mostly in the more affordable range – are equipped with Nvidia’s new GTX 1050 GPUs for laptops. After all, the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti GPUs are meant to be budget-friendly offerings. That being said, these GPUs are certainly capable; MSI mentioned that these cards are more powerful than the GTX 970M, which was used in many gaming laptops a couple of years ago.
Aside from processor and GPU upgrades, MSI also equipped some of its new gaming laptops – namely the GT and GS laptops – with Hi-Res Audio capability. On top of that, to provide 3D audio in VR content, Nahimic VR is featured on certain MSI laptops too. It’s certainly great to see that the Taiwanese company is putting emphasis on the audio aspect of gaming laptops as well.
According to MSI, these refreshed gaming laptops will be made available in Malaysia in the near future. Although no tentative date was given, several MSI laptops – all of which are packed with GTX 1050 GPUs and Kaby Lake processors – have been spotted locally, although the listings have been taken down since.
