Given the scale of CES, there are plenty of gadgets that go through its doors including the intriguing ones. Among such gadgets that seems to be the talk of everyone from the event today is a smart hairbrush…a world’s first, according to its creators.
Conceived by the folks at L’Oréal, Kérastase, and Nokia’s Withings, the Hair Coach is designed to provide hair analysis to users who are able to see the data insights on their smartphone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. At the same time, it also aims to promote better brushing habits and hair management in order to avoid hair damages.
The Hair Coach collects data through several sensors including a microphone which helps the brush recognize hair condition via the sound of hair brushing. It is also equipped with 3-axis load cells that determines the force used on hair and scalp while brushing.
Not enough with that, the brush also comes with an accelerometer and gyroscope to further identify brushing patterns and amount of brush strokes. The brush is even able to tell if users are utilizing on dry or wet hair thanks to its conductivity sensors.
Not to forget, the brush will also signal users through haptic feedback if they brush their hair too hard. To be released in mid-2017, the Kérastase Hair Coach will carry a price tag of USD 200 (about RM 900) which is not exactly what you can call as affordable but if you need something to convince yourself to purchase this smart hairbrush, maybe L’Oréal’s famous slogan might be able to help.
