Samsung Unveils The SM961 And PM961 M.2 NVMe SSDs

Samsung has unveiled the latest addition in its SSD lineup. At its annual SSD Forum Japan event, the company showcased two brand new SSDs called the SM961 and PM961, both of which uses the M.2 standard coupled with an NVMe interface. It’s worth mentioning that both SSDs are currently only made available for OEM system manufacturers.

According to Samsung, the SM961 SSD is capable of read and write speeds of up to 3200MBps and 1800MBps respectively. Meanwhile, the PM961 SSD is able to reach read and write speeds of up to 3000MBps and 1150MBps respectively. All thanks to the ever so efficient M.2 standard and NVMe interface.

In addition to that, both SSDs are said to be equipped with Samsung’s latest “Polaris” memory controller. Besides that, both Samsung’s SM961 and PM961 SSDs will come in four different storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Unsurprisingly, both SSDs are significantly faster and more efficient compared to their predecessors (SM951 and PM951).
