TP-Link is more known as manufacturer of network equipment but interestingly though, the company has unveiled its own smartphones earlier this year. Branded as Neffos, these smartphones will be making their way to Malaysia later this month according to a press invite that we received earlier today.
Scheduled to take place on 30 March, the invite stated that TP-Link will be launching two models at the said event but stopped short of providing more details about them. Interestingly, a quick check at Lazada Malaysia showed that these two smartphones are most likely the C5 and C5L.
Based on the specifications listed at Neffos official website, what we are looking at here are essentially an lower mid-range and entry-level smartphones. For example, the C5 is equipped with a 5-inch HD IPS display and powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor alongside 2GB of RAM.
With the support for LTE Cat 4, the C5 also comes with internal storage of 16GB and a microSD slot that supports card with storage of up to 32GB. Photography-wise, the smartphone depends on its 8-megapixels rear autofocus camera and 5-megapixels front camera. Pre-installed with Android 5.1, a 2,200 mAh battery completes its hardware package.
As for the C5L, it features 4.5-inch FWVGA display alongside a 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 MSM8909 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Together with 8GB internal storage, it also supports microSD card with storage of up to 32GB and LTE Cat 4 just like the C5.
While the C5L also comes with 8-megapixels autofocus camera on its rear, the sensor on its front camera has lower resolution than the C5 at 2-megapixels. The battery on C5L is smaller as well at 2,000 mAh.
As for the pricing, Lazada Malaysia listed the C5 and C5L at RM 539 and RM 359 respectively. That being said, they are still not available for purchase at the moment which doesn’t really surprised us since the launch event will only take place next week.
