Set to be launched in a couple of weeks’ time, Huawei has started teasing images of its next smartphone, the P9. Out of the three images, one particularly stood out: it basically confirms the dual-camera setup of the Huawei P9.
While this unique camera setup of the Huawei P9 has been rumoured for quite some time now, it’s good to see an official confirmation from Huawei itself. While this isn’t exactly surprising, it will be interesting to see how Huawei will take advantage of the dual-camera system; it was rumoured that Leica is providing the lens of the Huawei P9’s camera. As Huawei and Leica are now in a partnership to “reinvent smartphone photography,” this is very possible.

As usual, the specifications of the Huawei P9 have already been rumoured. These include a Kirin 950 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, two 12MP rear cameras, a rear fingerprint sensor, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. On top of that, there may be as many as four variants of the Huawei P9.
The Huawei P9 is set to be launched on the 6th of April 2016. We’ll find out then if Leica had any involvement in the dual-camera setup of the P9, and whether or not it will be a game changer.
