It’s been established that the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge‘s camera is very impressive, especially with its quick autofocus speeds. Now, DxOMark – one of the most reputable mobile camera reviewers in the industry – has thoroughly tested the flagship’s camera, and the site has given the S7 edge a score of 88. This effectively makes it the best mobile camera DxOMark has ever tested.
According to DxOMark, the Galaxy S7 edge excelled in detail preservation in both low and bright lighting conditions. Other than that, the S7 edge’s dual-pixel camera sensor provided very fast and accurate autofocus, along with “low noise level under all conditions” as well as good exposure and dynamic range.
While the Galaxy S7 edge’s camera is impressive, it is by no means perfect. Under certain lighting condition (such as tungsten light sources), a “warm or yellow cast is visible.” Other than that, in very high dynamic scenes, certain parts of the images lose their detail.
In retrospect, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Sony Xperia Z5 got a score of 87, a mere one point difference with the Galaxy S7 edge’s 88 score. The Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge, on the other hand, received 86 points. While these differences may seem little, DxOMark tested many aspects of the camera before scoring these respective devices.
