It may be six more months before Apple officially unveils the iPhone 7 and its variants, but there are already leaks and rumours surrounding the upcoming smartphones, which is hardly surprising. This latest leak, however, is quite interesting: it could very well be our first look at the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual-camera setup.
The leaked image shows an iPhone without the plastic antenna – which was rumoured to be absent on this year’s iPhone – and a dual-camera setup, which is placed under a protruding, “pill-like” enclosure. The fact that alleged images of the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual-camera module have surfaced recently give credibility to this camera setup as well. Curiously, aftermarket iPhone modification company Felk & Volk also released its own renders of the iPhone 7 based on this one leaked image.
The dual-camera setup isn’t the only interesting change either; there seems to be a Smart Connector – which was first introduced on the iPad Pro – on the bottom of the device. If it is in fact a Smart Connector, which is able to transmit data and power at the same time, the iPhone can be connected to a new range of accessories.
But, with any leak that surfaces this early before a device is officially unveiled, take this image with a grain of salt. While there is a chance that this is how the iPhone 7 will look like, it is still too early to tell. Until then, we will just have to settle for the smaller iPhone SE, which will supposedly be unveiled on the 21st of March next week.
