Zotac has produced plenty of mini gaming PCs for a while now; a good example of that would be the SN950 which the company unveiled back in GDC 2015. This time round, Zotac is introducing the Magnus EN980 – which it calls the most powerful mini PC ever.
Zotac’s Magnus EN980 is equipped with an unspecified Skylake Core i5 processor and best of all, a GTX 980 GPU – notice the lack of an “M” suffix there. Yes, Zotac has indeed equipped a fully-fledged GTX 980 inside a mini PC. In addition to that, the Magnus EN980 is also able to power up to four screens via HDMI and Display Port..ports. Besides that, the mini PC also comes with USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 (Type-C); dual gigabit LAN; and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
What makes the EN980 more interesting is the fact that it surpasses the minimum system requirements to run VR headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift – theoretically. That’s not all, Zotac’s EN980 is also said to be equipped with a special liquid-cooling solution, which the company claims to be “whisper quiet”.
Zotac mentioned that it will reveal more details regarding the Magnus EN980 during the upcoming GDC 2016, which starts on the 14th of March.
