While OPPO made an appearance at the recent Mobile World Congress 2016, it didn’t announce any models though. Instead, that will take place on 17 March in China with the official unveiling of OPPO R9. Ahead of the launch, OPPO Malaysia has confirmed that the new phone will be available not long after the launch.
Specifically, the OPPO R9 will be released in Malaysia a month after its official launch event in China. That puts the Malaysian release timeframe somewhere in the middle of April. Other than this particular detail information, OPPO Malaysia is still keeping other details regarding the smartphone close to itself though.
Based on the rumors and teasers that are doing their rounds online, we expect that the two new technologies that OPPO has introduced at MWC 2016 – the Smart Sensor and Super VOOC – will be implemented into the R9. As a flagship-grade device, the R9 will also feature metal body and fingerprint scanner.
Other than that, the R9 will likely to come in two different variants: R9 and R9 Plus. Just like their predecessors from the R7 series, these two variants will be differentiated by their screen size. Not only that, rumors also stated that the R9 and R9 Plus will be equipped with processors from different manufacturers.
Since there are so many unconfirmed information out there, guess we rather wait for the official launch of OPPO R9 on 17 March then.
