Overwatch will be arriving a whole lot sooner than we expected. The release date of the game has been leaked by IGN, who accidentally plastered what is assuming to be the upcoming ad campaign all over its front page. The ads have been taken down by now, but it was recorded for posterity over on NeoGAF.
Blizzard’s highly anticipated team based shooter will be available to the public on 24 May 2016; which is a whole month earlier than the promised 21 June promotional materials were aiming for. There could potentially be delays ahead, but Blizzard has generally been known to hit release dates without too many issues.
Open beta early access is also happening from 3 May, but only for those who have pre-ordered the game. That doesn’t technically make it an open beta, although it does give those who have pre-ordered Overwatch something to look forward to. Pre-orders have been open since November and didn’t come with any sort of beta access; which is a little odd in this day and age.
Overwatch will be on sale for $39.99 (about RM160) for the base game, while the Overwatch: Origins Edition will be available for $59.99 (about RM245). It should be noted that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will only be able to purchase the Origins Edition for their chosen console.
