Update: TM is saying that it expects the work on the cables to be completed on 31 March. The information was revealed by a pre-recorded message that plays for anyone who calls the TM helpline.
Original Story: Telekom Malaysia has warned users about slow connections on international data links to the US and North Asia. The problem was detected on Monday, and TM has yet to publish any updates on the status of the issue.

No information about the problem has been revealed by TM, and the company has only issued a statement over Twitter about its existence. All that we know is that maintenance is being conducted on the international link that connects this side of Asia with the US. TM has not provided any time frame for the problem to be fixed, but it may take an additional few days for the problem to be sorted out.
@khajoe Hi. Fyi, there is service maintenance towards international link and the restoration is still in progress. Sorry for inconvenience

This isn’t the first time that the international data cables have been damaged. The link between Asia and America was damaged back in September 2014; and that issue took close to a month to resolve. Similar a problem happened in November 2014, although that one involved the connection to Europe.
There’s not much anyone can do at the moment. These data cables are extremely susceptible to damage and take a lot of effort to maintain. In other words, we will just have to deal with the slow connection for a while.
