If you’ve been eyeing the Chromecast Audio ever since Google unveiled it several months ago, you’d be happy to hear that it may be launching in Malaysia soon alongside the second generation Chromecast.
As it is with most tech products before they are officially available in Malaysia, the Chromecast Audio has been registered with SIRIM. This is similar with the second generation Chromecast, which has appeared on the same database just a couple of weeks ago. Seeing how both of these devices have been registered with SIRIM around the same time, we could see a simultaneous launch of these two products.
The Chromecast Audio works in a similar way to the Chromecast, but with speakers instead of television sets. Essentially, it can turn a regular set of speakers to a “smart” one. Once the Chromecast Audio is connected to a speaker via a standard 3.5mm audio, RCA or optical cable, audio can be streamed via WiFi to the speaker with any compatible app that supports casting.
Although the Chromecast Audio has been registered with SIRIM, there is still a chance that it will not be made available in Malaysia. Only time will tell if it will ever be sold here officially alongside the second generation Chromecast.
