GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2016 is only a few weeks away and it looks like AMD and Radeon Technologies Group will be introducing something rather “interesting” for its fans during the event. Senior Vice President of RTG (Radeon Technologies Group), Raja Koduri, said in a tweet that the company will make the upcoming event interesting for everyone.
Even the least informed would take Koduri’s tweet as an indication of a product unveiling. Whether it be the highly anticipated Polaris GPUs or the long awaited Dual Fiji XT GPU, AMD fans will most probably be seeing a special product being announced during the event. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Koduri hinted an upcoming product reveal on twitter. In fact, a few moths ago, the RTG Senior Vice President mentioned a tweet regarding Polaris (the star). A few weeks later, the Polaris graphics architecture was officially announced by AMD.
@GFXChipTweeter Someone told me GDC is looking kind of bland this year. I think we need some Capsaicin to spice things up a bit…..

@RyanSmithAT @anshelsag @GChip no worries Ryan – we will make it interesting for everyone:)

Of course, AMD wouldn’t be the only GPU manufacturer to be showing up for GDC 2016. Nvidia is also rumoured to be cooking up something for the event. Last year’s GDC saw Nvidia debuting its flagship graphics card, the GTX Titan X. Rumour has it that this year, Nvidia plans to demo a consumer version of a Pascal-based GPU at GDC before officially announcing it during GTC (GPU Technology Conference) 2016.
Regardless, knowing that Polaris and Pascal is bound to be launched sometime this year will make for an interesting show at GDC 2016.
