Not too long ago, alleged presentation slides of the Xiaomi Mi 5 have been circulating the Internet. While the slides reveal several key specifications of the highly anticipated smartphone, Xiaomi has confirmed that the slides are fake, although the company also mentioned that certain details are accurate.
While Xiaomi mentioned that the slides did not originate from the company, it didn’t specify if any of the specifications listed are inaccurate. Interestingly enough, Xiaomi did not point out just which hardware listed in the slides are accurate either, which doesn’t come at a surprise. That being said, there are a few rather suspicious specification.
Alleged render of the Xiaomi Mi 5.
According to the slides, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will supposedly sport a 26MP rear camera with an aperture of F1.6; needless to say, this sounds too good to be true. Seeing how the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor – which has been confirmed by Xiaomi to be powering the Mi 5 – only supports image capture of up to 25MP (according to Qualcomm itself), this camera specification is highly unlikely.
Other than that, the other specifications listed on the slides seem believable, such as a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and of course, a Snapdragon 820 processor. The slides also claim that the Mi 5 will come with a microSD card slot, which we’re quite doubtful of, considering that Hugo Barra himself mentioned that Xiaomi’s flagship devices will not come with expandable memory.
Regardless, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be officially unveiled next week on the 24th of February 2016. It will be interesting to see if it will indeed feature a microSD card slot.
