The Huawei Mate 8 is Huawei’s current flagship smartphone, and it is the company’s first device to be powered by its new Kirin 950 processor. After making an appearance on SIRIM not too long ago, we have received word that the Mate 8 will be launched in Malaysia early next month.
As a flagship smartphone, the Mate 8 is without a doubt a very capable device. It has a fast Kirin 950 octa-core processor under its hood, which features four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 1.8GHz cores in a big.LITTLE configuration. On top of that, the Mate 8 also has a 6-inch 1080p IPS display, up to 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot (supports cards up to 128GB), and a generous 4,000mAh battery.
In the camera department, the Mate 8 is packed with a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and phase detection autofocus, which is complemented with an 8MP front-facing shooter. Rounding out the specifications of the Mate 8 are a rear fingerprint sensor, LTE connectivity, and dual-SIM support.
From our short time with the Huawei Mate 8, we have to say we were quite impressed with it. The Mate 8 will make its debut in Malaysia sometime in early March 2016, and it will come in four colours: Mocha Brown, Champagne Gold, Space Gray, and Moonlight Silver. At the time of writing, Huawei Malaysia has yet to reveal the retail prices of the Mate 8.
