As some of you might have heard, Mobile World Congress (MWC) will take place once again in Barcelona later this month and many brands including Samsung, LG, and Xiaomi will be there to unveil their new products to the world. However, that is apparently not the case for HTC even though the company will be setting up a booth there.
According to a recent rumor, HTC has decided to launch its upcoming flagship smartphone One M10 (codenamed Perfume) way after MWC. By that, we mean 11 April and the rumor also stated that the launch will take place in London.
In addition to that, the Taiwanese company apparently has decided not to call the device as One M10. No exact name was mentioned in the rumor but the “One” moniker will continue to be part of the name for the new flagship model.
Meanwhile, a separate rumor has claimed that HTC will be using the 1.55um 12-megapixels Sony IMX377 sensor for One M10’s main camera. Alongside it, the camera will also feature optical image stabilization as well as a combination of laser and phase detection autofocus system.
For those who are keeping track, that is the same sensor that was equipped into Nexus 6P which managed to produce respectable results. Of course, having the same sensor is just one part of the puzzle since the final outcome can also be affected by the imaging software in the phone and other factors.
At the same time, One M10’s front camera will be equipped with 5-megapixels Samsung S5K4E6 ISOCELL sensor. Not to forget, both cameras apparently will be marketed as UltraPixel cameras.
All in all, they are interesting rumors indeed but we prefer to wait and see how the real thing will turn out to be when the time comes. More importantly, we are more curious to see if One M10 able to turn things around for HTC.
