Huawei smartphones will soon be shipping with Deezer’s music streaming app pre-installed. This comes as the two companies announce a new partnership to promote the music streaming service. At the moment, the deal only applies to the honor line of smartphones.
Deezer is a music streaming service from France and functions similar to the more popular Spotify. It has over 40 million music tracks, audio books, and podcasts; and is immensely popular in Europe. The streaming service currently claims some six million subscribers and caters to 180 countries.
“Honor customers will get the best of both worlds – smart technology alongside the best in music and radio,” said Deezer’s chief international officer Gerrit Schumann,. “With just one touch, listeners can access the largest music catalogue in the world, as well as over 40,000 podcasts, personalised mixes and audiobooks.”
It should be noted that this deal only pre-installs the Deezer app on honor devices, and doesn’t include a premium subscription. Users are still free to use the ad supported free version of the service, but will need to fork out for their own subscription fee as the partnership does not appear to include any premium time.
