Celcom is making a roaring start to the new year. Fresh from unleashing one of the most competitive postpaid plans we’ve seen so far, the local telco is aiming to disrupt the prepaid market with the new FATTNET from Xpax prepaid pack.
This limited-time promotion, which will be available from this Friday, 5 February, offers a generous 8GB of high-speed monthly data, 88 minutes and 88 SMS for free to other Celcom/Xpax numbers, unlimited Internet Burung Hantu, and free Yonder Music access for just RM88 a month.
In contrast, Hotlink and U Mobile’s prepaid offerings do not have anything close to match FATTNET from Xpax plan. Only Digi comes close: for the same RM88 monthly commitment, users get 7GB of high-speed data, 7GB of additional data for use between 1-7am daily, and free access to Digi’s Music Freedom app.
As mentioned earlier, this plan is a special one-off offer in celebration of the Chinese New Year. When asked, Celcom CMO Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin did not confirm whether this plan will have a similar offer under a different name in the future.
It does, however, dovetail nicely with the other Xpax monthly Internet plans, which range from RM30 to RM60 offering between 1.5GB to 4.5GB of data. The free Internet Burung Hantu, which is Celcom’s ongoing feature of offering free high-speed Internet from 1-7am daily, also means that the FATTNETT from Xpax plan is well-suited for the heavy data user.
The FATTNET from Xpax prepaid plan will be available to purchase or subscribed from 5 February until 31 March 2016. Those on Xpax who wish to subscribe to the new prepaid plan can SMS “NET88” to 28882 from 5 February onwards.
