Well, that was unexpected. In a swift response to recent telco developments, Celcom has unleashed its best postpaid plan ever: the First Gold. Offering a staggering 10GB of data plus unlimited calls and texts to all networks for just RM80 a month, this plan is one of the best we’ve seen yet from any telco.
But of course, with any amazing-sounding plan there are bound to be some fine print. The First Gold plan’s 10GB data quota is actually split into two equal 5GB portions: a “main” monthly 5GB data plus an additional 5GB data that’s allocated only for the weekends (1.25GB every weekend).
Not to forget, this plan also comes with the ability to carry forward unused data. However, this will only apply to the 5GB of monthly data. As for the weekend data, they will refresh every weekend, meaning that any unused data from the 1.25GB quota will be forfeited the following Monday. It should also be noted that Celcom will use this weekend quota ahead of the user’s monthly data on weekends.
Should you use up your monthly data allocation, you will be throttled to a reduced speed of 64kbps.
Besides that, the plan also offers unlimited calls and texts to all networks, and a free 12-month trial to Celcom’s Yonder Music app, which allows you to stream music for free.
Finally, subscribers will also get 5GB allocation when using Celcom’s WiFiPlus zones, and bonus Internet of 1GB when your bill hits RM225 and above, or 2GB when your bill tops RM500 (roaming charges not included).
From the terms and conditions, this plan is a limited time promotion that will end on 31 March 2016 (or be extended based on Celcom’s discretion). Judging by the slashed price from RM100 to RM80, don’t be surprised that this plan will cost RM100 from April onwards.
After all, Celcom is also offering an Internet-only First Gold plan for the same RM100. This plan offers 6GB of monthly data, 4GB of weekend data, another 12GB of data for use between 1-7am daily, as well as 18GB of WiFiPlus data (6GB all day, 12GB from 1-7am daily).
More importantly, both Celcom First Gold postpaid plans are contract-free, meaning you’ll not be tied to any contract (unless you bundle in a device with the plan).
The Celcom First Gold Plan can now be subscribed online or at all Celcom outlets nationwide. Head on to the official product page for more info.
