The Winter Battle Pass for Dota 2 was announced last week, and it comes with several new features as well as game modes. Included along with the bundle is the Shanghai Major Compendium as well.
The Winter Battle Pass features Winter Season Quests, where players can choose from different objectives and be rewarded with battle points upon completion. In addition to that, the quests come with three different paths: Support, Solo and Carry. After completing a particular path, players will then be presented with a reward that is unique to the chosen path. Interestingly, Valve has also included three extra rewards that may only be unlocked once 2.5 million players complete a particular path. The community unlock comes in the form of hero skins for The Lich King (The Sekarund Tyrant), Lina (Regime of The Enthaleen Dragon) and Dragon Knight (Legacy Of The Eldwurm Crest).
Besides that, the Winter Battle Pass also comes with an interesting virtual betting feature called Winter Wagering. Each player will be given 1,000 tokens every week, which can be used to wager on games that they are playing. When a player wins, the amount that was wagered will be doubled and converted as battle points. It’s worth noting that token balance will not be carried forward to the following week. Another neat feature is Tipping; a player can choose to tip a player in the same game for performing well.
All Winter Battle Pass owners will also receive features such as winter-themed map terrains and creeps. Besides that, replays for games that are played using the Winter Battle Pass will be stored for three months instead of 10 days. Of course, the Shanghai Major Compendium is also included with the Winter Battle Pass. The Winter Battle Pass is available now and costs USD$7.99 (about RM34). More details regarding the compendium can be found here.
There is, however, another feature that applies to all players. Valve has introduced another feature called Conduct Summary. This feature displays the overall “conduct” of a player in Dota 2, which take into account the amount of abandons, leaves, reports and commendations they acquired in the last 25 games. This summary will also show a percentage of gamers that bear the same conduct as the player. Patch notes for the recent update can be found here.
