It was just last month when the Snapdragon 650 variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was officially announced, and it seems like it will be arriving in Malaysia very soon. Chances are, Xiaomi Malaysia will not be bringing in the MediaTek variant of the Redmi Note 3, opting instead for the Snapdragon model.
A rather mysterious Xiaomi device has been registered on SIRIM with the model number 2015116, but a quick search on Google did not reveal much. However, the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 3 with a Snapdragon 650 processor has the model number 2015112; that’s just one number differentiating it from the Xiaomi device registered with SIRIM.
Of course, this is merely an educated guess at this point, although it’s worth pointing out that the MediaTek variant of the Redmi Note 3 has the model number 2015617. Needless to say, this is a stark difference in comparison to the similarity the Xiaomi device on SIRIM has with the Snapdragon model of the Redmi Note 3.
If the Xiaomi device on SIRIM is indeed the Snapdragon 650 variant of the Redmi Note 3, it will feature a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display, a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front-facing snapper, LTE connectivity, and a generous 4,050mAh battery. If we go by the TENAA listing of the Chinese variant of this device, it will also have up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.
At the time of this writing, we have yet to receive any official information or invite from Xiaomi Malaysia on the launch of any upcoming device. Hopefully, it won’t be long until we hear from the company.
