With a reputation as one of the most prominent feature in Windows 10, Cortana was designed to be a digital personal assistant from the ground up. In addition to tracking flight details, weather, news, and traffic, Microsoft has recently added new capabilities into the feature that are aimed to further assists user’s daily life.
One of them is the ability to remind users of their promises. While “promises” might sounds a little bit corny but what this particular function actually do is that it scans users email (with their permission, of course) and recognizes commitments that they might have wrote in the email. Once it detects such commitments, Cortana will then offer users to add it as reminders.
Not surprisingly, Cortana and Microsoft Research team have worked together to come out with this particular function. From the way we see it, it seems to operate in similar manner as per Cortana’s existing flight tracker.
Another new function that Microsoft has added to Cortana is the ability to detect if a requested meeting will take place outside of users’ regular hours or during their commuting times. As expected, these insights are based on users’ behaviors as observed by Cortana and once it detects such requests, Cortana will offer several options for users to decide on what they should do with the meeting.

As for availability, these new functionalities for Cortana will be first made available for users that are part of Windows Insider Program before making their way to all Windows 10 users in the near future. Well, seems like they are yet another good reasons to activate Cortana on your Windows 10 PCs.
