Asus has announced two new gaming motherboards dubbed the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha and the TUF Sabertooth Z170 S. In addition to that, Asus Malaysia has also provided us with the date of availability for the Maximus VIII Formula gaming motherboard.
Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha
The ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard – pictured above – features an LGA1151 socket based on Intel’s Z170 chipset. Unsurprisingly, the gaming motherboard feature almost identical specifications to the original Maximus VIII hero motherboard. However, the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha does come with new features such as a 5-way optimisation auto-tuning technology, which provides consumers with the ability to gain performance boosts and access to the gaming motherboard’s settings easily. Interestingly, the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha features RGB lighting as well, which can be controlled using the provided software.
According to Asus Malaysia, the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha will retail in Malaysia at RM1,569.
Asus TUF Sabertooth Z170 S
Like the aforementioned motherboard, the specifications of the TUF Sabertooth Z170 S is quite similar to the Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 motherboard. What makes the TUF Sabertooth Z170 S special is its appearance: the ATX motherboard’s PCB is fully covered with a white and grey camo colour scheme, which Asus refers to as “digital arctic camouflage”. Asus’ new colour choice is quite refreshing considering the fact that motherboard manufacturers nowadays usually resort to a full black colour scheme.
In addition to that, the TUF Sabertooth Z170 S uses an Intel Z170 chipset to enable support for Skylake processors. Additional features of the motherboard include TUF Thermal Radar 2 fan management, TUF Ice temperature sensors as well as the TUF Detective 2 companion app that will enable users to control and monitor certain aspects of the motherboard via a smartphone app.
Asus Malaysia has mentioned that the TUF Sabertooth Z170 S motherboard will be available on sale in Malaysia immediately and will retail for a price of RM1,109.
Aside from announcing two new gaming motherboards, Asus Malaysia has also mentioned that the ROG Maximus VIII Formula motherboard – which we reported a few weeks ago – has been made available in Malaysia for RM1,943.
