honor, the well-known sub-brand of Huawei, has just launched two of its latest devices in Malaysia: the honor 5X and honor 7 Enhanced Edition. Unfortunately, the retail prices of these devices have not been officially revealed yet, although the honor 5X has been listed for sale.
As the successor to the honor 4X (which we quite liked), the honor 5X is a step-up over the former in many, many ways. The 5X has gained an all-metal body, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a fingerprint sensor, and a different processor: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, a marked change over the honor 4X’s HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor. Other specifications of the honor 5X include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing snappers, as well as a 3,000mAh battery.
As for the honor 7 Enhanced Edition, nothing much has changed over the standard model. It still has a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, a Kirin 935 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, 20MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras, as well as a 3,100mAh battery. That being said, there are several things that differentiate the Enhanced Edition from the standard honor 7: it has 32GB of built-in storage, it comes with a fast charging charger, and it runs on Emotion UI 4.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, although the demo unit on display was still running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
As mentioned earlier, the retail prices of the honor 5X and honor 7 Enhanced Edition were not revealed at the launch event. However, Lazada has listed the 5X for sale at RM999; it is also expected to ship on the 5th of February. As for the honor 7 Enhanced Edition, rumours are suggesting that it will retail at RM1,499, which is RM100 more than the standard variant. Regardless, registration of interest for the honor 5X is now live on Vmall.my.
