Truth to be told, Microsoft Lumia 550 was already available in Malaysia right after Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL were launched into our market. However, it was only available to enterprise users through DiGi SmartPlan for Business but that changed today as consumers are now able to obtain the Windows 10-powered smartphone at Microsoft Authorized Reseller stores.
Said to be Microsoft’s most affordable LTE smartphone at the moment, the Lumia 550 is essentially an entry-level Windows 10 Mobile device that features a 4.7-inch LCD display and powered by 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor. Also built into the smartphone is 8GB internal storage, 1GB of RAM, and the support for microSD card.
Photography-wise, the Lumia 550 relies on a 5-megapixels rear autofocus camera which also features 28mm f/2.4 lens, and LED flash while it also comes with a 2-megapixels f/2.8 front camera. A removable 2,100 mAh battery provides it with up to 17 hours of 4G talk time, 10 hours of Internet browsing through Wi-Fi, 7.1 hours of video playback, and 28 days of standby time.
At the same time, Microsoft has also announced the availability of Nokia 230 Dual SIM in Malaysia. The Series 30+ feature phone comes with 2.8-inch QVGA transmissive LCD display together with 2.0-megapixels rear and front camera. Built with the support for EGPRS and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, the Nokia 230 Dual SIM also comes with 1,200 mAh battery that provides it with up of 23 hours 2G talk time, and 22 days of standby time.
In terms of pricing, the Microsoft Lumia 550 goes for RM 559 while the Nokia 230 Dual SIM can be obtained at RM 269. Available immediately, both prices are inclusive of GST.
