Even though Samsung’s Unpacked event is only happening next month, rumours and leaks on the Galaxy S7 don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. This particular leak, courtesy of Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), has revealed a key information: Samsung could be unveiling three different variants of the Galaxy S7 at the same time.
According to Blass, these three variants are the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, and S7 edge+. Even though Samsung unveiled two variants of the S6 back in March 2015 (the S6 and S6 edge), the S6 edge+ was not introduced until the Galaxy Note 5 was officially launched in August 2015. Needless to say, this change in launch timing is rather odd, although it could be Samsung’s way of ensuring that the Galaxy Note 6 will be the star of the show – when it is eventually introduced, of course.
Honestly surprised by this (though it does explain a lot). pic.twitter.com/B7fL41qShm

Other than these supposed variants of the Galaxy S7, there are also various rumours regarding the device’s specifications. These include the return of the microSD card slot, an IP67 rating, a larger battery, and interestingly enough, a 12MP camera rather than a 16MP shooter found on the Galaxy S6 variants.
While these information seem legitimate, they did not come directly from Samsung, so nothing is set in stone. That being said, Blass has a good track record of being really, really accurate with his information. Regardless, if these variants and specifications turn out to be true, consumers will be spoilt for choice once the Galaxy S7 hit the market.
