First teased to the world earlier this month, OPPO stated that its new F series devices are to deliver premium mobile photography experiences. The company also announced that it will unveiled the first device in the series – OPPO F1 – this month and true to its promise, the new phone has made its debut in Vietnam.
At a glance, the F1 features the same design language that we’ve seen on OPPO R7 and R7 Lite especially with its polished aluminum body, protruding camera module and the accompanying LED underneath it. The new phone is slightly thicker though at 7.25 mm as opposed to R7 and R7 Lite which has a thickness of 6.3 mm although the F1 is still lighter at 134 grams.
In terms of hardware, the new F1 features a 5-inch IPS display with graphics resolution of 1280 x 720 and pixel density of 294 ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor that is paired with 3GB of RAM alongside 16GB internal storage which can be complemented further with microSD card of up to 128GB in storage.
Photography-wise, the F1 is almost similar to R7 and R7 Lite as well. On its back, there is a 13-megapixels f/2.2 rear camera while an 8-megapixels camera is positioned on the front of the device which features a wider f/2.0 lens as compared to the f/2.4 lens on R7 and R7 Lite’s front camera. Last but not least, the F1 is also equipped with a 2,500 mAh battery.
In Vietnam, the new OPPO F1 is now available for pre-order with a price tag of VND 6,490,000 (about RM 1,272). Since the company has stated that F1 is a mid-range device, we expect that price tag will be relatively the same in Malaysia as well.
