It seems like honor Malaysia is gearing up to launch the honor Band Z1 on our shores. For the past few days, the Chinese company has been teasing the Band Z1 on its Facebook page. More likely than not, the wearable will be launched in Malaysia soon.
Despite its naming scheme (which suggests that it is a fitness band of some sort), the honor Band Z1 looks very much like a smartwatch. Part of the reason why is its circular design, which isn’t a form factor other fitness bands have adopted. In a way, this differentiates the Band Z1 from its competition.
In terms of specification, the Band Z1 has a 1.06-inch 128 x 128 PMOLED display, a Cortex M4 based STM32F411 CPU from STMicroelectronics, IP68 certification (it can be submerged underwater up to 10 meter), and a 70mAh battery which will supposedly provide up to three to four days of battery life.
Functionality-wise, the Band Z1 is able to mirror notifications from the device it is connected; the wearable can be connected to both iOS and Android devices. Other than that, it functions very much like the Huawei TalkBand B2: it is capable of calculating number of steps taken, sleep tracking, and also alerting users of incoming calls.
At the time of writing, there is no information on the launch date, price or availability of the honor Band Z1 in Malaysia yet. If you’d like to learn more about honor’s smartwatch, check out our hands on of it back in London last year.
