Maxis is currently testing direct billing for content sold on the Google Play Store. What this means is that Maxis customers will no longer have to add a debit or credit card to purchase apps, movies or books. They can do so by directly charging the cost into their Maxis account.
With Maxis’ introduction of direct billing for its customers, it’s superbly convenient for most Malaysians because some users do not own or have access to a debit or credit card. That being said, Maxis isn’t the first to introduce direct billing as Digi beat them to it when it first launched the feature back in October 2015.
To use the feature, all Maxis users have to do is open up the Play Store and select whichever content they wish to purchase. Then, click on “buy” or the button that shows the price of the said content. After that, select “Use Maxis billing” as the payment method and you’re done. Once the purchase is made, the respective monetary charge will be reflected in the customer’s postpaid bill or deducted directly from his/her prepaid airtime credit.
As of this writing, the direct billing feature is only showing up on phones with postpaid accounts. So for prepaid users, you might have to wait a little before getting the feature. Also, Maxis hasn’t update its website to show the feature. Let’s give the company a little more time before it officially launches its Maxis Billing feature.
