While Samsung will not be unveiling the Galaxy S7 in CES 2016 this week, another leak has made it onto the Internet. This time around, it concerns the number of variants Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone will come in along with a 12.2MP camera; an odd change, seeing how the Galaxy S6 had a 16MP camera.
According to the new leak, the alleged Galaxy S7 pictured below has a 5.7-inch display. In the past, two variants of the S7 have been reported: 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch. If this 5.7-inch model is in fact another variant of the S7, there will be three different screen sizes to choose from when the device is officially announced.
Other than that, the leak also revealed a 12.2MP rear camera, a drop in megapixel count over the Galaxy S6’s 16MP shooter. That being said, the 12.2MP snapper will apparently sport a larger pixel size, which should make it quite a capable shooter. After all, this proved to be true with the Nexus 6P’s camera.
Rounding out the leaked specifications of the Galaxy S7 include a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 2560 x 1440 display, 4GB of RAM, and a 5MP front-facing shooter. If we were to look back at The Wall Street Journal’s report, the Galaxy S7 is also said to be equipped with a pressure-sensitive display, a USB Type-C port, and interestingly, a microSD card slot.
Of course, as all of these information did not come directly from Samsung, it remains to be seen if these specifications are to be believed. Regardless, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is shaping up to be an interesting flagship smartphone.
