It seems like it was only yesterday when MSI last unveiled a new gaming motherboard. Regardless, MSI has again announced two gaming motherboards: X99A and Z170A Carbon Edition. Both the gaming motherboards will feature improved “Mystic Light” RGB lighting and other technologies that will surely tempt gamers.
The X99A Godlike Gaming as well as the Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Editions are basically special editions of the similarly named motherboards, although MSI has done a few tweaks and additions to them. Firstly, the X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon Edition features an improved version of MSI’s Mystic Light RGB lighting. Besides that, the gaming motherboard is also equipped with Audio Boost 3 Pro, Killer DoubleShot-X3 Pro, Turbo M.2 connectivity (transfer speeds of up to 32GB/s) and USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C.
Next, the MSI Z170A Carbon Edition motherboard has – like its name indicates – support for Intel’s Z170 chipset, which will enable the motherboard to support Skylake processors. In addition to that, the gaming motherboard is protected using MSI’s Steel Armor, which ensures the Z170A stay “stable and solid”. Aside from that, the gaming motherboard has the same features as its counterpart, the X99A Carbon Edition.
Interestingly, both the X99A and Z170A Carbon Editions come in a full black colour scheme, which compliments the added onboard RGB lighting. According to MSI, the gaming motherboards are special due to the material that some components on the motherboard have: carbon fibre. This means that not only will the gaming motherboard boast superior performance, it will also weigh less compared to other gaming motherboards. How often can one say that they own a carbon fibre motherboard?
Despite this, MSI has yet to release the price for both the X99A Godlike Gaming and Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Editions. However, they should be priced a bit higher compared to the standard editions of the gaming motherboards.
