Several days back, Xiaomi has introduced a new variant of its latest smart TV, the Mi TV 3. Previously, this product was only available in 60-inch, but now, it is available in 70-inch as well; it is Xiaomi’s largest smart TV yet.
Aside from the larger display, the 70-inch Mi TV 3 is just like its 60-inch counterpart. It still has a 4K panel (although it is now supplied by Sharp instead of LG), an MStar 6A928 processor, MEMC motion compensation to reduce blurring, a high colour gamut, and MIUI TV based on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
What sets the Mi TV 3 apart from other smart TVs in the market is its two-part construction. Unlike many other TVs that have the bulk of their internals built into the display itself, the Mi TV 3’s motherboard is packed into its sound bar. Basically, all of the ports are located at the sound bar instead of the TV, and only one cable is necessary to link the former to the display. The sound bar is also sold separately as the Mi TV Bar.
Interestingly, the 70-inch Mi TV 3 will retail at 9,999 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM6,635. The 60-inch model, on the other hand, is priced at only 4,999 yuan (around RM3,320) when it was launched. That being said, this is still an aggressively priced smart TV, although it is only available in China at the time of this writing.
