It’s odd – having been here over a year as Editor, I’ve not felt compelled to work on an Editor’s Note – let’s buck that trend this year, shall we?
2016 will be a year of changes here at Lowyat.NET. And in a good way – this year we will be working on several projects that promise to be fun, exciting and ultimately, engage the community in different ways.
Let’s start with the front page. There’s no two ways about it: it’s old, not responsive and generally in need of an overhaul. We’ll be introducing a facelift for the front page in the immediate future, with several key focus points: to make our content easier to read on smaller screens, to make quality content visible for longer, and finally, to make the site load efficiently. Here’s a preview.
Sorry about that link. Here’s a GIF of a cat playing with a tablet.
In terms of content, you’ll be seeing some fresh approaches from myself and the editorial team. Besides a renewed focus on gaming and hardware (which you’ve been seeing in the second half of 2015), we’ll be working on new forms of content, with an aim to not just inform, but to entertain; expect more features such as this over the course of the year.
Meanwhile, be sure to follow our Instagram page! It’s a place where we not only post real-time updates on live events, but this year I’d like you to get to know more of what we do outside of our office – and just get to know us as human beings instead of names you see underneath the headlines.
Well, maybe not photos like this.
Finally, without letting the cats (yes, plural) out of the bag, I hope to announce some exciting new projects from our end that will definitely, definitely be worth your time.
Now, who’s ready for some CES 2016 news?
