Xiaomi really has it all. Just recently, the Chinese company unveiled a brand new product: an air purifier. Not just any air purifier, mind you – it’s the Mi Car Air Purifier. As its name suggests, it is an air purifier…for your car.
In cities like Beijing where air pollution is a real concern, the Mi Car Air Purifier does make a lot of sense. Hugo Barra, quoting a study, mentioned that “an average person will spend about four years inside a car.” “That’s a lot of time to be exposed to all sorts of traffic-related pollutants in the air,” he added.
That’s where the Mi Car Air Purifier comes in. As it’s designed to be placed in a car, this air purifier comes with a strap that can be attached to the headrest of a seat. According to Xiaomi, the Mi Car Air Purifier has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 60m³/h, which is claimed to be one of the highest in the market. It can also purify air inside a car in only three minutes.
Other specifications of the Mi Car Air Purifier include a high-quality filter (it can filter out dust, smoke, PM2.5 particles, as well as hair), a double-barrel air filter design, as well as a “comfortably quiet” operation noise. As the air purifier does not come with a display, users will have to control it via the Mi Home app.
The Xiaomi Mi Car Air Purifier is currently on sale in China for 449 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM290. As usual, there’s no mention if the portable air purifier will ever be sold outside of China.
