It has been hinted for quite some time but it still come without any warning: Webe has officially launched its home broadband offering. Running on the same LTE network as its mobile network, Webe Home Broadband is mainly designed for tablets and broadband modems that able to support LTE band 5 (FDD 850), 38 (TDD 2600), or 40 (TDD 2300).
At the moment, there is only one plan available which costs RM 59 per month or RM 62.54 with GST included. For that amount, customers will receive 10GB of data per month without any contract although they will also receive additional 20GB per month that can be used until 11:59pm of 28 February 2017 as part of its launch promotion.
Once users finished their quota, their connection speed will be throttled to 128kbps. Unlike its mobile counterpart which has Celcom as its backup network, Webe Home Broadband runs exclusively on LTE which means that users need to really make sure that they are located within Webe’s LTE coverage.
That being said, there is no additional tethering charges for Webe Home Broadband and able to support up to 10 devices for each account. As for registration which requires an upfront payment of RM 50 or RM 53 with GST included, it can be done through Webe’s official website and Webe Lounges. In the near future, registration can be done at selected TMpoint branches as well.
