It looks like someone in Dell’s marketing department have accidentally revealed some interesting details about a particular unreleased Dell notebook: the XPS 15 9650. Details regarding Dell’s new 15-inch notebook was oddly spotted on its own website, which was probably accidental and has since been removed.
Luckily a cached version of the XPS 15 9650 product listing was found by the folks at Overclock3D. Based on the leak information, we can safely say that Dell’s new 15-inch notebook is packed with new hardware that’ll make it attractive for consumers upon release. The first notable component of the Dell notebook is a Kaby Lake processor. Consumers will be able to choose from three different Intel CPU options: Core i3-7100HQ, Core i5-7300HQ, or a Core i7-7700HQ. One interesting and rather odd detail that was mentioned in the product listing page was that the XPS 15 9650 will be fitted with a GTX 1050 GPU… that has up to 4GB VRAM.
It’s odd because the desktop variant of the GTX 1050 graphics card only comes with 2GB of VRAM. Knowing this, we could be looking at a slightly more powerful GTX 1050 GPU intended for notebooks or that it may be a ‘typo’ on Dell’s product page. Currently, only Nvidia’s GTX 1050 Ti comes with 4GB VRAM.
Those aside, several sources are expecting Dell to launch the XPS 15 9650 during CES 2017, along with other Kaby Lake and GTX 1050-equipped notebooks. We’ll have to wait until January to see if this is indeed the case.
