It has been more than a year since NVIDIA released its Android TV-based Shield media device to selected market throughout the world. Hence, it is not surprising to us when we starting to hear that the company is working on a successor for the TV box and these set of leaked photos have pretty much strengthened those rumors.
According to the source, NVIDIA apparently might be releasing two different Shield models. While the existing Shield was indeed released as two separate models, the only difference between them is their storage space but not for the 2017 Shield models as the size of their chassis might be one of the differentiators.
The reason behind the difference between physical size is not known at the moment, just like how the internal specs for the new Shield are still under wraps for now. At the same time, the 2017 Shield Remote looked rather identical to existing model.
In a way, the biggest difference that the 2017 Shield might carry would be its controller. Even though its basic shape is still similar to the existing Shield Controller, NVIDIA has totally revamped the controller with a much more edgier design. All in all, it is indeed an interesting first look at the 2017 Shield but there are still many questions left to be answered by NVIDIA.
