The Spotify app for the Samsung Gear S3 has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, and it’s finally available to consumers now. With the dedicated Spotify app, Gear S3 users – as well as those who have the Gear S2 – can listen to their Spotify playlists through the smartwatch itself.
Users can use the new Spotify app in two modes: Remote and Stream. As its name suggests, Remote mode allows users to control the Spotify app on the device that’s connected to the Gear S3. Stream mode, on the other hand, enables audio to be played through the smartwatch itself with its dedicated speaker.
Naturally, the Spotify app takes advantage of the Gear S3 and Gear S2’s unique rotatable bezel; users can skip ahead or go back to the previous track with a twist of the bezel. Other than that, the dedicated Spotify app also enables one to browse through his or her Spotify gallery through the smartwatch itself.
Samsung Gear S3 and Gear S2 owners can now download the Spotify app from Samsung’s Galaxy Apps Store. If it’s not available there yet, Samsung may be gradually releasing the app, though it should be widely available by the end of the week. While the Spotify app for the Gear S3 and Gear S2 may not seem like a huge deal, it’s a feature consumers may find very useful – myself included.
