So far, we know that the Xiaomi Mi 5 is confirmed to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. Just recently, a Xiaomi representative has revealed more of the company’s devices that will be updated to the latest version of Android. These include the Mi Note, Mi Max, as well as the Mi 4S and Mi 4c.
Looking at the list of devices that are getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update, we notice that they’re only made up of Mi devices; no Redmi phones are slated to receive the update at the moment, it seems. Chances are, this may mean that Xiaomi is simply prioritising the higher-end Mi devices, though this is merely an educated guess at this point in time.
Although the aforementioned Xiaomi devices will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, it’s not detailed just when the update will be rolled out to consumers. Rumours, however, are suggesting that it’ll be released sometime in the first quarter of 2017, which isn’t too far off from now.
It’s certainly great to see that Xiaomi is planning to update most of its devices to Android 7.0 Nougat, especially for devices as old as the Mi 4c. Hopefully, Redmi devices – and even the Mi 4i – will receive the Nougat update as well.
