Xiaomi’s first-ever laptop, the Mi Notebook Air, was launched five months ago. Although the Windows machine was never launched in Malaysia officially, parallel importers – naturally – already have it for sale on our shores. Local availability aside, it appears Xiaomi will be introducing a new variant of the Mi Notebook Air right before Christmas.
Not too long ago, Xiaomi sent out invites to an event happening in Beijing on the 23rd of December 2016. The invitation only states that a new variant of the Mi Notebook Air will be unveiled on that day; it didn’t specifically detail what changes the new model will bring.
However, there are a couple of interesting details on the invite itself. For one, there’s a 4G icon on the bottom right of the Mi Notebook Air’s display; China Mobile’s icon – one of the China’s mobile carriers – is also featured on the invitation. Chances are, the upcoming laptop will feature 4G connectivity.
Beyond that, however, it’s still not known if the new Mi Notebook Air’s other internals will be updated as well. After all, since the product was initially announced in July, laptops with newer Kaby Lake processors have started shipping; it’ll only be to Xiaomi’s benefit to equip its new Mi Notebook Air with similar processors too. Regardless, all will be revealed come 23 December 2016.
