Apple is now officially selling the AirPods after a lengthy delay. The wireless earbuds were meant to be released at the same time frame as the iPhone 7, but were held back as Cupertino said that it needed more time with them. Interestingly, this release appears to be a global event instead of a staggered rollout; which means that Malaysians can now order them from the Apple online store.
Announced at Apple’s event in September, the AirPods are Tim Cook’s solution to the lack of an audio jack on the iPhone 7. The earbuds are designed to automatically pair with any nearby iPhone which, in theory, should make them function seamlessly.
The price of the Apple AirPods shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the devices were already listed on the online store last month. At RM849, these are not exactly affordable. At the moment, Apple is expecting to ship the AirPods within two weeks for Malaysian; although other regions appear to be getting theirs by 21 December instead.
