Felix Kjellberg – aka PewDiePie – swore that he would delete his YouTube channel once he hit 50 million subscribers, and he intended to make good of his promise. Well, turns out, Kjellberg did indeed delete his YouTube channel – it’s not exactly PewDiePie, however.
Over the weekend, Kjellberg uploaded a new video titled “Deleting My Channel,” which – as the title suggests – shows him doing just that. As some might have suspected, the video shows Kjellberg deleting his secondary channel instead: Jack septiceye2.
Although the “Jack septiceye2” channel was meant to be a joke from Kjellberg’s earlier video – a parody of jacksepticeye, really – that particular channel actually had over a million subscribers. While this pales in comparison to PewDiePie’s 50 million subscribers, it’s still quite a respectable number.
Looking at the comments posted on the video, it appears Kjellberg’s fans are relieved to learn that the whole thing was simply a joke, although there are folks who are not quite as thrilled. Nonetheless, the video above is currently the number one trending video on YouTube with over 20 million views at the time of this writing.
Kjellberg is known to pull off pranks like this, and this particular one may be his biggest yet. Looking forward, Kjellberg promised once again that he’ll delete his channel once he hits 100 million subscribers – it’s a long way to go, but probably not impossible.
