Crytek is apparently facing financial problems yet again, with employees taking to social media to complain about the fact that they have not been paid for at least three months. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of problems from the game developer either.
The issue first came to light from a post on Imgur from someone claiming to be a Crytek employee who had not been paid in three months. This was soon followed by a Glassdoor review indicating that the staff have faced payroll problems for the past six months.
Crytek’s problems are not exactly new, although some are surprised to see that little has been done to remedy the issue. The company was forced to sell its UK studio to Deep Silver in 2014, and has been licensing its Cry Engine to Amazon for additional funds.
Despite these measures, it looks like Crytek is still a failing enterprise. At the moment, the complaints are coming from its HQ in Germany, which a worrying indicator about its financial health. Especially since there has been little news about any new projects.
